Diagnosis

The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted virus that can have serious health consequences if not detected and treated in time. This virus is linked to the development of cervical cancer, among other health problems. In our gynecology center, HPV is addressed in a comprehensive and personalized manner to ensure adequate and effective management.

In our gynecology center We carry out the diagnosis in two different ways:

  1. viral culture: An HPV culture can identify the presence of the virus in the body.
  1. cervical cytology: in our gynecology centerA cervical cytology test is used to detect abnormalities in cervical cells that may indicate HPV infection. This test reveals cells with inflammatory symptoms characteristic of the virus.

How serious is HPV?

HPV can develop into a serious infection if regular checks are not carried out in the gynecology center. Lack of follow-up can allow the disease to progress and cause serious problems such as cervical cancer, which is potentially fatal if not detected in time.

To prevent the development of serious HPV-related infections, it is essential to:

  • Perform cervical cytology tests: Cervical cytology tests should be performed at least every two years. This is crucial, as cervical cancer can take years to develop from an HPV infection.
  • Get vaccinated: HPV vaccination is an effective preventive measure. It is recommended for all ages and all sexes.
  • Condom use: Using condoms during all sexual relations with different partners helps reduce the risk of HPV transmission.

Treatment

HPV treatment varies depending on the stage of infection:

If it is in the early stages, it can be treated with less invasive methods such as regular monitoring and topical treatments. In the case of early lesions, techniques such as cryotherapy, electrocoagulation, laser or cervical conization can be used to remove abnormal cells. When the infection is advanced, it may require more extensive procedures, depending on the extent and type of lesion.

In our gynecology center We take a comprehensive approach to HPV management that includes prevention, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, ensuring complete care.
