Bartholin's cyst is a disorder caused by the obstruction of the exit orifice of one of the Bartholin's glands. These glands, located on the sides of the vaginal opening, secrete fluid to lubricate the vagina.
When this fluid accumulates around the gland and is unable to escape, it ends up creating a cyst filled with this same fluid that causes discomfort and even pain if it becomes infected.

Some of the most common symptoms of this condition are:
- Severe pain in the vaginal area.
- Visible inflammation in the gland.
- Pain when walking.
- General malaise.
- Fever (in some cases).
- Inability or difficulty to have sexual relations.
At the Doctoras Pérez Gynecology Center we carry out CO2 laser treatments, with cutting-edge technology, to solve various pathologies, including Bartholin's cyst. This new treatment, which is giving very good results in our patients, has many advantages compared to the treatments that have been carried out to date, since it does not require hospitalisation or surgery to eliminate the condition, as it is treated on an outpatient basis and with local anaesthesia.
Furthermore, the treatment of Bartholin's cyst with this innovative method leaves no scar, since the laser vaporizes the entire gland and provides a shorter postoperative period with less discomfort. On the other hand, it should be noted that Bartholin's cyst can reappear due to causes such as low immunity, vaginal infections that increase vaginal discharge, or exercises that impact the gland.
